GM Recycling and McLanahan: The beginning of a new partnership
GM Recycling and McLanahan
At the 2-years MATEXPO trade show in Kortrijk, GM Recycling proudly announced its latest international partnership. The Belgian family-owned company will now serve as the exclusive dealer for McLanahan in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. McLanahan is a globally recognized name in the recycling and processing industry. With over 185 years of experience, the brand is known for its robust, reliable, and technologically advanced equipment, specializing in washing plants and material processing for both natural raw materials and recycled applications.
For GM Recycling, this partnership is a logical next step in the further expansion of its international brand portfolio. “We are extremely proud to represent McLanahan in the Benelux,” says Freddy Gillis, founder of GM Recycling. “Their expertise in stationary plants perfectly complements our existing range of mobile machines. Together, we can offer customers even more comprehensive solutions—from crushing and screening to washing and separation.”
A shared vision of quality and service
According to James McShane of McLanahan, the two companies clicked right from the very first meeting. “McLanahan is built on strong relationships and reliable service. We know that in GM Recycling, we have a partner that shares those values. Freddy’s team is technically strong, has a local presence, and enjoys a high level of trust among customers in Belgium and the Netherlands. That makes them the ideal representative of our brand.” The partnership came about after months of consultation and joint customer visits. “Freddy and I are now in contact almost daily,” says McShane. “We share the same vision: growth through quality and customer support. In our industry, the work doesn’t stop with the sale of a machine. You make the real difference in the after-sales service—and that’s where GM Recycling excels.”
A response to the future of the sector
This partnership perfectly aligns with the evolution of the European market. Whereas sand and gravel extraction used to be the main focus, today the emphasis is on recycling, reuse, and circular material flows. McShane: “Europe is changing rapidly. New natural resource mines are becoming scarcer, so the materials of the future will come from recycling—think of construction and demolition waste or contaminated soil. Every project requires a specific approach, and that is exactly where our technology, combined with GM Recycling’s local expertise, makes the difference.” Freddy adds: “McLanahan manufactures everything in-house. A single point of contact, short lines of communication, and machines that can be perfectly tailored to specific needs. That aligns perfectly with our way of working. Moreover, we’re seeing growing demand for fixed installations—specialized, efficient systems that optimize customers’ recycling processes. With McLanahan, we can now offer that as well.”
Partners, Not Customers
Both companies view their collaboration not as a traditional dealer agreement, but as a long-term partnership. “We don’t want to just deliver machines and leave,” McShane emphasizes. “We want to guide, support, and help our customers grow. That’s why we prefer to talk about partners rather than customers. And in GM Recycling, we have a partner that perfectly embodies that philosophy.” Freddy nods in agreement: “At GM, everything revolves around trust and transparency. That applies to our customers, our employees, and our suppliers. McLanahan shares those values, and that’s what makes this partnership so strong.”
With the exclusive McLanahan dealership, GM Recycling further expands its position as a leading supplier of complete recycling solutions. Freddy concludes: “After fifteen years of growth, innovation, and collaboration, this is a new milestone for our company. McLanahan isn’t just a brand; it’s a partner that shares the same passion for quality and sustainability. Together, we want to take the recycling industry in the Benelux to the next level.”
